Thirsty Thursdays (Special Edition) & General Assembly 2026

    Dear friends,

We invite you to the GessWho! General Assembly (GA) on Thursday, May 21st at 18:00, room: A 32.1.

This is your chance to become part of the new board, vote for your program’s student representative, and get involved in shaping student events for your cohort in the coming year. If you have any proposals for GessWho! (e.g., motions, suggestions, event ideas, etc.), please send them to us up to three days before the GA per email: info@gesswho.ethz.ch. If you would like to be a candidate, or if you would like to nominate someone for a role, you can also gladly do this by email or on the spot during the GA. The roles, statutes, and other necessary documents for the GA are sent to you via email.

This time, we will host our LAST SPECIAL THIRSTY THURSDAY right after the GA! We will provide free pizza as the tradition has it, and in addition free drinks for everyone who attends!

Gess Who! joins ETH Libraries’ Student Sounding Board

Our Event Coordinator, Ziyi Wei, will represent D-GESS students on the ETH Libraries’ Student Sounding Board. Established in 2019, the Board brings together 16 Bachelor’s and Master’s students from across ETH to support the ongoing development of library services. Through workshops, interviews, and product testing, members help shape learning spaces, improve access to information and literature, and provide general user feedback.

If you have suggestions or ideas regarding our library services, feel free to reach out to Ziyi at ziyi.wei@gesswho.ethz.ch

  • ETH TAG 2025

    ETH TAG 2025

Our president, Hana Syla, together with Logistics Coordinator Bao Vu, represented us at the ETH Tag 2025, in the university’s 170th anniversary. As per tradition, our umbrella association VSETH presented awards to lecturers who went the extra mile for their students. The GESS WHO! board had the honor of presenting the award for exceptional teaching to Prof. Walter Thurnherr from the GESS Department.

We thank VSETH and ETH Zürich for giving us an opportunity to recognize the good work of our community!

  • GessWho Lounge: New Electronic Lock

    GessWho Lounge: New Electronic Lock

We’ve switched to a new electronic lock in the GessWho lounge. The system uses CardLink (dormakaba exos), which means your access rights are stored on your ETH card and must be refreshed regularly.

    What you need to do

    1. Update your card at an Update Terminal (this is not the same as a Validation Terminal).
Location: RZ – Floor E (Update Terminal).
    2. Hold your card to the white rectangle on the lower part of the terminal until the display shows “Update erfolgreich”.
    3. Refresh your card at least every 30 days to keep your access active.

    Using the door

    • Green light on the reader = access granted → turn the outer handle to open.
    • Red light + beeps = access denied → please update your card at an Update Terminal and try again.

    Quick troubleshooting

    • No access: Update your card at an Update Terminal (especially after a card replacement).
    • Still no access: Your access may have expired or been withdrawn. Please contact mauro.duenki@gess.ethz.ch

    Need help?

If you’re unsure how to proceed or run into problems, please have a look at the CardLink documentation first. If you’re still stuck, don’t hesitate to reach out to Mauro Duenki at mauro.duenki@gess.ethz.ch
