About GESS Who!
GESS Who! as student association of the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences (D-GESS) at ETH Zürich was founded in spring 2013. The association represents the interests of students in the following programs: MA in History and Philosophy of Knowledge, MA in Comparative and International Studies, MSc in Science, Technology and Policy, and BA in Public Policy.
What is our Mission?
Our mission is to build a strong community across programs and cohorts in the D-GESS Department. We work to integrate first-year students who join any of the programs and to keep the community among existing students strong, by offering various student-focused events and resources. Our events encourage students to socialize with one another, share cultural experiences, and engage in activities with academic value. We take part in university politics and foster networking opportunities for students.
We work closely with elected student representatives, who act as the voices of students in Teaching Committees and the Department Conference of D-GESS. Some of our social events include welcoming days for newcomers, summer and winter weekends in Swiss mountains, social gatherings, and educational trips.
How do I become a Member?
To become a member of GESS Who!, students from the D-GESS department are required to be official members of VSETH. This can be done by paying the membership fee of 10 CHF every semester. Simply go to mystudies when signing up for the new semester and check the box “VSETH Membership”, which will appear in the online registration portal. After the registration period has ended, you can still become a member by paying the membership fees directly at the VSETH office.
